I enjoyed the book even though I had it figured out pretty early on. It's nice to see Cardinal coming out of his shell and I hope Blunt writes more Cardinal books.

I have read each of Mr. Blunt's John Cardinal novels and have found that while the writing is good, the novels are only great when Cardinal is having a personal crisis, when he isn't the novel ends up being a formulaic crime book with nothing to distinguish it from all the other mediocre books out there. Forty Words for Sorrow, was truly amazing, and By The Time you Read This was also a great read, the other novels in between - not so much. Unfortunately, Crime Machine to me is another miss, and I was so looking forward to reading it, sometimes the actual novel pales in comparison to the anticipation of its release.

I enjoy Blunt's Cardinal books but I, like others, don't care for his "stand alone" books. Even though I haven't read "Crime Machine" yet, it gave me a good laugh. The laugh came when I looked at the price for the book in paperback. If it doesn't come out in a reasonably priced Kindle form, I simply won't buy it at all. Probably won't change my life.
